A Vevor magnetic drill: an electromagnet base clamps it to steel, so it can drill square, accurate holes in frames and box tube that would never fit under a drill press. The listing gives it a 1,550 W motor, 2,922 lbf of magnetic holding force and a top speed of 500 rpm. It lives in the basement shop.

I first used it in October 2026, to drill straight through both sides of the box-tube frame the lid sits on, on my M3 laser, so I could bolt on a light-blocking batten; that's in Weekend Shop and Maker Time.
